Vicky Pattison was left battling high winds and fearing her post had been destroyed – while Scarlett Moffat has been left in tears by Storm Babet – which is wreaking havoc across the UK.

For 35-year-old reality star Vicky, she faced fierce elements after debating weather related lingo on her Heart FM radio show. On Thursday, before Storm Babet made land, Vicky was discussing weather terms with her Drive co-host Adam Lawrance – and they were trying to discover the origins of an old expression.

Vicky asked her co-star: “Adam, what do you say when it’s really windy outside?” And he replied that he would say: “It’s blowing a hooley.” But Vicky was captivated and confused by the expression.

Sharing a video from inside the radio studio with her fans and followers on Instagram, Vicky asked: “Can we just once and for all work out if this is an old person term or a down south thing.” She wrote a caption alongside the video, stating: “This is defos NOT Geordie,” alongside a crying-with-laughter emoji. She also wrote a question to her fans, writing: “Have you ever heard the term ‘blowing a hooley’? To describe strong winds?!! Have you heard this?? What do you call it when it’s windy?”

A mere 18 hours later, however, Vicky had fully embraced the term as she shared a video of herself outside in extreme winds. She shared a caption on the video – which had all sound drowned out by roaring winds – writing: “It is absolutely blowing a hooley… Hope you appreciate this walk lads!”

Vicky also revealed that she feared her post had been destroyed by the powerful storm – which has sparked red warnings to be issued across the UK by weather officials. She shared a video from the inside of a car showing a road blocked off by raging river water.

She wrote over the video: “I thought I’d missed a parcel from Royal Mail yesterday… turns out they just didn’t fancy their chances through this. Cannot blame them one bit to be fair.” She added: “There is another way obvs, but they didn’t pursue that – anyway I worked it out this morning and tired to find out where my parcel was. Eventually I found out it was at the storage depot in Morpeth. This was my window to get there.”

Meanwhile 33-year-old Scarlett took to instagram Stories on Friday to reveal that a filming shoot she had planned had been thrown into chaos by the extreme weather conditions. The former Gogglebox star said she had been left in tears as he day was left frustrated and her plans in tatters.

Taking to Instagram Stories, ScarMo shared a selfie of herself forcing a smile while fighting back her emotions. Wearing a baseball cap, the star wrote a caption stating: “When you’re trying to smile through the tears as you were so excited to go to London to start filming but Storm babet has ruined it.”

The Met Office has issued red weather warnings in response to Storm Babet which is due to batter the UK with 70 mph winds and 200mm of rain throughout Friday. The red weather warning signifies a “danger to life from fast flowing or deep floodwater” – with Aberdeenshire and Angus in Scotland expected to be hit particularly hard.

Meteorologist Steven Keates warned: “Heavy and persistent rain will fall onto already saturated ground bringing a risk of flooding. As well as heavy rain, storm Babet will bring some very strong winds and large waves near some eastern coasts too.”
