Royal Mail have launched an investigation into a video that showed postmen staggering in the street in Clapham after ‘accidentally’ eating brownies laced with cannabis.

One postman was seen looking disorientated in the street and had to be helped by a colleague in South West London.

According to the video, the brownies were sent to a house that was ’empty’ with no return address  – after a month they were opened and given out to staff.

The footage was posted to Instagram Stories via an account that has since been deleted and showed the box of edibles, said to have been made by an Instagram business called Dank Bakery, which ‘specialises in medicinal bakes and confectionery’.

In the video, which appears to have been taken at Royal Mail’s Clapham Delivery Office, text reads: ‘Today almost all the posties in Clapham accidentally ate hash brownies and I had to pick them up one-by-one because they were so high.’

The postman is then seen staggering towards a Royal Mail trolley in the street before another colleague offers to help him and says: ‘You alright? Let me take the trolley.’

Another person adds: ‘You’re just really high’.

The footage then cuts to him sitting in a chair and appearing disorientated as he tries to explain to colleagues how many edibles he has eaten.

He was later heard telling them that he consumed ‘four’ pot brownies and appeared to be slurring his words.

During the video, the text reads: ‘One guy said he was walking to a door and thought he was walking forever.

‘Say a prayer for him right now, hopefully he is asleep or he is singing with unicorns’.

The 57-second video claims the brownies were eaten between 5.30-7.30am and were eaten after being unopened in the office for a month.

It read: ‘We had a delivery of them with no return address and the house was empty and they were in our office for a month so we opened them and they got given out. They were eaten between 5.30-7.30am.’

A Royal Mail spokesperson told MailOnline that an investigation has been launched into the video and will determine if ‘further action needs to be taken’.

The spokesperson said: ‘Royal Mail expects the highest standards of behaviour from our people at all times.

‘We are taking this matter very seriously. We have commenced an investigation which will determine whether any further action, including disciplinary action, might be taken.

‘We are also reminding all staff at the delivery office of the correct procedures for dealing with items with no address for delivery or return.’
