A road in Ware has been shut off this morning after a huge fire broke out at a furniture shop.
Marsh Lane is closed to both pedestrians and traffic while the police and fire crews attempt to control the fire at Wood Bros.
A spokesperson for Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “We currently have a large incident in progress on Marsh Lane, Ware – please avoid the area if possible.”
A video from social media has shown thick black smoke in the area rising from the building. It can be seen from the Royal Mail depot nearby and several people can be seen looking on.
Passenger Transport announced their services have been disrupted by the fire and said: “Emergency Road Closure: Marsh Lane, #Ware. Due to fire in a furniture store, all services leaving the Arriva Ware depot will be affected. Updates will be provided.”
Wood Bros is a family business that has been running for around 90 years specialising in the design and manufacture of quality furniture.
Congestion is building in the area as motorists are diverted away from the scene.
