Warkop | Little Collins Street

It’s been two years since Melbourne was introduced to Warkop, and now the world of Indonesian and South East Asian-flavoured sangas is about to extend beyond the Richmond postcode with a second locale on Little Collins Street in the city.

On the cards for the all-new store from Warkop’s Barry Susanto and Erwin Chandra is a larger menu that’s not confined purely to sandwiches; the CBD shop will also explore more diverse Indonesian flavours from Balinese-style Sambal Matah cheese crullers to a palm sugar burnt Basque cheesecake.

However, the favourites will still well and truly be in tow, from the roast pork with sambal burrata, the saucy rendang beef brisket to the staple Kaya toast with coconut butter, pandan jam and rice puffs on buttery toasted brioche—a homage to Erwin’s childhood snacks.

There’ll also be coffee from Dukes and a selection of pastries that are baked daily in-house by pastry chef, Audita Bisma.

The 16-seat shop which is located just off Spring Street was designed with Sonelo Architects and continues with a similar aesthetic to its Richmond counterpart, channelling true ‘Warung Kopi’ style with a casual collection of corked flooring and woven rattan and a small section of outdoor dining.

Warkop’s new store at 13 Little Collins Street opens on Tuesday 2 May, head over here for more info.
