Watch as Andy Murray’s golden postbox is reinstated in Dunblane

ANDY MURRAY’S gold post box has been reinstated after it was knocked over by a car.

The post box – painted gold in honour of the Scots tennis legend’s Olympic win in 2012 – was sent flying after a “runaway car” careered into it.

But mum Judy has confirmed that the landmark is now back up in pride of place in the centre of Dunblane.

Taking to Twitter, she tweeted: “Arise Sir Andy’s postbox. #Dunblane”

The post was accompanied with a love heart emoji.

Over 1,500 people liked the tweet, with 80 retweeting.

The incident happened just before 8pm in Dunblane High Street last night.

Images shared on social media show the gold-painted landmark on its side after it was ripped from the ground in the smash.

One eyewitness told how the car “rolled back and knocked the post box out”.

A woman suffered minor injuries as a result of the collision but did not require medical treatment.

A Royal Mail spokeswoman said last night: “We’re aware that the Andy Murray gold postbox has been knocked down and will look to reinstate it as soon as possible.”

Police Scotland confirmed they were aware of the one-vehicle collision and were making enquiries.

Two-time Wimbledon champ Murray was honoured with the post box in his hometown by Royal Mail.

It came after he defeated Roger Federer to win the men’s singles title at the Games in London.
