WEC chosen to manufacture red letterboxes

Darwen-based WEC Group has won the contract to manufacture iconic red letterboxes on behalf of Royal Mail.

The multi-million-pound agreement will also see the firm produce parcel drop boxes, sorting stations, trolleys and other equipment.

WEC operates in-house manufacturing capabilities including laser cutting, fabrication, machining and specialist coatings, from nine manufacturing sites across Lancashire, Yorkshire, Merseyside and the West Midlands. The company employs 150 at its Darwen headquarters and 900 in total.
