Christmas is coming, and while this year’s may be a very different affair in the wake of coronavirus restrictions, one way younger members of the family can still safely mark the festivities is by writing a letter to Santa.

While Christmas grottos are still allowed to open even under the new tier system – with Covid-secure measures in place – you may prefer to get in touch with Father Christmas by post this year, with Boris Johnson having assured youngsters that despite the pandemic he’ll still be making his festive deliveries.

The last date for posting letters to Santa this year is December 11 – but if you or your children want to get a letter to the man in red in Lapland in time for Christmas, what’s the address and how should you go about it?

Here’s what you need to know…

What is Santa’s address?

If you want to send a letter to Santa at the North Pole and hopefully get a personalised reply, this is the address:

  • Santa/Father Christmas
  • Santa’s Grotto
  • Reindeerland
  • XM4 5HQ

Don’t forget to stick a stamp on the envelope as you would with any normal card or letter.

You can post the stamped and addressed envelope into any Royal Mail letterbox.

How can you be sure of a reply from Santa?

To send a letter or card to Santa via Royal Mail, simply create your greeting, wish list or note and pop it in an envelope.

If you want to make sure your letter gets a response, make sure you include a full name and return address along with your letter, so they know who to send it to.
