Back-to-back World Darts Championship winner Luke Littler has earned millions of pounds in prize money as a teenager but has been selective with his spending so far
While some sports stars aren’t afraid to splash the cash after huge windfalls, Luke Littler has been a little more restrained. However, that doesn’t mean the two-time world darts champion has kept all his money in his pocket.
Littler successfully defended his world title over the weekend, beating Gian van Veen 7-1 at Alexandra Palace. The victory saw The Nuke scoop the £1million top prize, bringing his lifetime earnings up to £3.3m before his 19th birthday.
He has shown his generosity, too, spending for others as well as himself. And there’s no better example than his behaviour on the night he was crowned world champion for a second time.
“I’m very tired. It was a bit busy in the household and I think everyone was a bit excited,” the teenager said. “My phone was popping off, but yeah, we just chilled out.
“I think we got like £150’s worth of pizzas in for everyone. We all had a bite to eat. I managed to get about four hours of sleep.”

Littler admitted he had “no idea” what he would spend his money on in the coming weeks, which will involve a short break in Dubai as well as tournaments in Saudi Arabia and Bahrain. “I said yesterday, I can’t buy a new car yet. I’ll have to get a year on the insurance before changing that one,” he said, before adding that he would treat himself a bit in the UAE.
“Ever since coming into the tournament, everyone’s talked about the prize money,” he added. “But for myself, just going back-to-back, it was a decade ago since Gary [Anderson] done it. All eyes were on me. I was in good form coming into the tournament and that’s why when I went back-to-back.”
The champ’s comments about a new car haven’t been lost on fans. Littler needed a few tries to pass his driving theory test, though he found the practical part easier, but bought himself a personalised BMW after finally getting his licence in the autumn.
“I wouldn’t say it was nerve-wracking cause there was only a few routes around Warrington, so I kinda knew what route I was going on,” he said after passing his driving test. “I was doing lessons before it, and my driving instructor took me on a particular route and come my test, it was the same route, so it was very easy.”
Littler has been asked about his other spending as he continues to rack up prize money, but he’s clearly not a man for extravagant purchases. “I bought myself a nice bag,” he said when asked about his flashiest buy after a Players Championship win.
There’s an argument for saying the biggest outlay is not on any individual item, but rather on his living arrangements. He has moved into a new five bedroom pad, paying a reported £6,000 per month in rent
It was a move which baffled former world champ Dennis Priestley, who told The Sports Daily: “I don’t know what advice he is getting. I was asked about his renting of a mansion at £6,000-a-month. I mean if he’d have come to me for some advice, I would have said if you want a mansion and that sort of life you’re better off buying it.
“Having a mortgage is better than wasting £6,000 and getting nothing back for it. But that’s his business. That’s how I’d look at it because it’s just £6,000-a-month thrown down the drain.”
