Royal Mail explained that severe weather has “created difficult conditions” which has affected a “large number of deliveries in Bradford”.

A woman who lives on Prince’s Crescent in the BD2 postcode areasaid yesterday: “I just would like to make you aware of a situation myself and lot of residents are currently having in BD2 and I’m going to assume other areas.

“We haven’t received any post from Royal Mail since the 3rd of January. Not a single postman has been seen.

“A random Royal Mail van has been seen twice on our street but they deliver one parcel and immediately leave.

“I have multiple parcels including important medication waiting since the 2nd of January to be delivered as have many other residents too.

“This becoming concerning now as the weather has been clear since the weekend and we’ve been completely forgotten about.

“I have sent emails and even tried to call Royal Mail but not had no luck.”

Nicholas Hannah of Allerton, which is in the BD15 postcode, is also frustrated by the situation.

“I’ve not had any mail for ages. It seems like it’s been at least two weeks if not longer than that.

“As I understand it, they’re only delivering parcels in some places at the moment.

“The neighbours had mentioned that they had not received any post for some time, which prompted me to send a letter as a test.

“I sent myself the letter first class two weeks ago and I’ve still not received it.

“But what about important mail that people need to receive?”

He has been told that there is ‘mountains of mail at the depot’ at his nearest depot on Valley Road in Bradford.

He also called on the Royal Mail to let their postal workers work overtime to help shift the backlog.

“They should just reinstate overtime until this is resolved.

“But they don’t seem interested in getting rid of the backlog.”

A Royal Mail spokesperson said: “Recent severe weather, which then resulted in compacted snow and ice, created very difficult conditions that affected a large number of deliveries in Bradford.

“With conditions improving, we are working very hard to return the service to normal and make sure everyone’s deliveries are made.

“We expect to return to regular service within the next few days.”
