Whistl has launched a Fuel Carbon Calculator enabling its bulk mail customers to reduce their carbon footprint by opting to use Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) rather than diesel for the collection and trunking of their bulk mail.
Through using the Fuel Carbon Calculator customers can establish the number of litres of fuel used to transport their mail and then calculate what CO2 could be saved by using HVO rather than diesel.
Whistl is launching the Fuel Carbon Calculator with NatWest – its first customer to offset their carbon emissions through this innovative product, the first in the Downstream Access Bulk Mail sector.
The new product benefits both Whistl and its customers as they can both offset their carbon emissions. Whistl by using HVO reduces the CO2 it generates, and customers can reduce their CO2 impact under Scope 3 reporting.
Scope 3 encompasses emissions that are not produced by the company itself and are not the result of activities from assets owned or controlled by them, but by those that it’s indirectly responsible for up and down its value chain.
Nick Wells, Executive Chairman, Whistl, said: “Cutting Carbon in logistics is tough due to the nature of the industry but that does not stop us taking steps that will not only benefit Whistl but also our customers. Through using the Fuel Carbon Calculator customers can establish how they can reduce their CO2 by using HVO to help meet their Net-Zero commitments.”
