Who’s who at the wedding of Crown Prince Hussein of Jordan and Rajwa Al-Saif

As royals and diplomats from around the world descend upon the Zahran Palace in Amman, Jordan, for the royal wedding of the summer, they make up a very exclusive guestlist.

Heads of state and representatives from royal families from the UK to Bhutan arrived to celebrate the union of Crown Prince Hussein, 28, and Saudi Arabian architect Rajwa Al-Saif, 28, this afternoon.

Rajwa was dazzling in a white gown for the occasion, which featured a lengthy train embroidered with flowers, and a sparkling diamond tiara.

She was given away by Crown Prince Hussein’s brother Prince Hashem, who walked arm-in-arm with her through the gardens of the palace.

Later this evening, an event will be thrown for 4,000 guests to celebrate Jordan’s ‘diverse social fabric’ and demonstrate the royal family’s ‘profound respect for each segment of Jordanian society.’

The celebration will take place in the Royal Hashemite Court’s ‘Madareb Bani Hashem’.

The 4,000 guests include members of the Royal Hashemite Family and representatives of the nation’s tribes and Circassian and Chechen communities.

Meanwhile, members of civil society organizations, business leaders, youth figures, former and current government officials and army and security agency personnel have also been invited.

But the ceremony itself was more intimate with 140 guests, including members of the Royal Hashemite family, invited royals and heads of state, sat in the pews as they watched the couple tie the knot in the palace garden. 

Here, FEMAIL breaks down the exclusive guest list at the wedding of Crown Prince Hussein and Rajwa Al-Saif…

1. Queen Azizah of Malaysia 

Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah was born a royal princess in Malaysia’s southerly Johor region.

She is the third daughter of the late Sultan Iskandar of Johor and his British wife, born Josephine Ruby Trevorrow. 

She married Al-Sultan Abdullah at the Sultan Abu Bakar State Mosque in 1986 and they have four sons and two daughters together. 

2. King Abdullah of Malaysia

King Abdullah, 63, ascended the Malaysian throne in 2019 and was crowned after Sultan Muhammad V stepped down after the last his reported marriage to a Russian ex-beauty queen, Oksana Voevodina.

Before being sworn in at the palace, the 63-year-old, who is also the ceremonial ruler of central Pahang state, was given a welcome at the national parliament and inspected a guard of honour. 

As a young man, he completed his military training in the UK at Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.

3. King Philippe of Belgium

King Philippe of Belgium is a distant cousin of the late Queen Elizabeth II.

The monarchs share several common ancestors, including Franz, the Duke of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld, who was the grandfather of Queen Victoria and the father of King Leopold I of the Belgians.

King Philippe ascended the throne in July 2013 when King Albert II announced he was abdicating the throne.

4. Queen Máxima of the Netherlands

Queen Máxima is married to King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands, and the pair have three daughters, Amalia, Alexia, and Ariane.

The Argentine-born royal, 50, married King Willem-Alexander in 2002.

In 2013, the pair became King and Queen of the Netherlands after Beatrix, Willem-Alexander’s mother, abdicated.

5. King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands

The Dutch King is distantly related to King Charles – he was the Queen’s fifth cousin once removed thanks to an ancient connection in their family tree. 

Willem-Alexander is a descendant of Princess Carolina of Orange-Nassau, who was the daughter of William IV, Prince of Orange, and his wife Anne, the eldest daughter of King George II of Great Britain and his consort Caroline of Ansbach.

6. US First Lady, Jill Biden

Dr Jill Biden is the US First Lady, married to President Joe Biden.

She has represented the US at several international events recently, as the President has remained in America.

Last month, she flew to London to attend King Charles’s Coronation at Westminster Abbey. 

7. Queen Sofia of Spain

Queen Sofia was Queen of Spain from 1975-2014 while married to King Juan Carlos I.

The Greek-born royal married the Spanish King in 1962, and converted from the Greek Orthodox religion to Catholicism.

Queen Sofia stepped down as Queen of Spain when King Juan Carlos I abdicated in 2014.

8. King Juan Carlos I of Spain

The former King of Spain shares three children with his wife Sofia, Elena, Cristina and now-King Felipe.

After ascending the throne in 1975, he ruled for nearly 40 years until 2014, when he abdicated after he was linked to a corruption scandal involving his son-in-law.

He was also under scrutiny over an elephant hunting trip he took during a financial crisis in Spain. 

After abdicating, citing ‘personal reasons’, he handed over the throne to his son, King Felipe.

9. Prince Daniel of Sweden

Prince Daniel of Sweden is married to the heir to the Swedish thronw, Crown Princess Victoria.

The couple share two children, Princess Estelle and Prince Oscar.

Before becoming a member of the royal family, Prince Daniel worked as a personal trainer and owned several gyms in Stockholm.

10. Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden

The heir to the Swedish throne is the eldest child of King Carl XVI Gustaf.

She married Prince Daniel in 2010 and the couple now live in Haga Palace.

11. Crown Princess Mary of Denmark

Crown Princess Mary of Denmark is married to Crown Prince Frederik, who is heir to the Danish throne.

Australian-born, she moved to Denmark following her marriage to Frederik and the pair now share two children.

They met in a pub in the year 2000 during the Sydney Olympic Games.

12. Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark

Crown Prince Frederik is the oldest child of Queen Margrethe and the Danish heir apparent.

Over the last year, he has been involved in a rift within the Danish royal family after his brother Prince Joachim spoke out about a decision by the Queen to remove princely titles from his four children.

Frederik’s two children, however, kept their prince and princess titles.

However, the Danish royals appear to have overcome their differences and all came together in April to celebrate Queen Margrethe’s birthday.

13. Queen Jetsun Pema of Bhutan

Queen Jetsun Pema of Bhutan is married to King Jigme Khesar.

The royal couple were present at the coronation of King Charles and Queen Camilla last month and also attended the state funeral of Queen Elizabeth last September.

In 2016, they welcomed the Prince and Princess of Wales to Bhutan on their royal tour. 

14. Princess of Wales

Kate, Princess of Wales, is married to Prince William, with the couple tying the knot in 2011.

They share three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

Kate previously held the title of Duchess of Cambridge until the death of Queen Elizabeth last September.

15. Prince of Wales

Prince William is the heir to the British throne as the eldest son of King Charles III.

He and the Princess of Wales are representing the British royal family at the royal wedding in Jordan.

16. Princess Elisabeth of Belgium

Princess Elisabeth of Belgium is the daughter of King Philippe and Queen Mathilde, and is first in line to the Belgian throne.

As the heir apparent, she holds the title Duchess of Brabant.
