The Duchess of Sussex’s new brand American Riviera Orchard could prove difficult for the royal family, and place further strain on the estranged relationship Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have with their relatives
The launch of Meghan Markle’s new luxury brand could be a ‘ticking timebomb’ for the Royal Family, and even be the first step in seeing their titles removed according to one royal expert.
Earlier this month Meghan appeared to launch her new lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard which has already gained more than 570,000 followers. American Riviera Orchard is thought to be a lifestyle and cookery brand which will tie in with a new cooking show on Netflix and it’s expected that the brand will stock home decor items such as marmalades, jams and other lifestyle products. Meghan’s American Riviera Orchard is reportedly “seeking to publish online and in book form”.
However, it appears that the new brand launch might not be welcomed by the royal family, who could see it as a threat to “Britain’s most precious brand, the Royal Family”.

Writing for the Daily Mail, royal expert Tom Bowers slammed the new launch as he wrote: “It also appears that the project has been rushed. Meghan has not yet appointed a chief executive to manage the business.”
As Meghan leads the way for her and Prince Harry to build their Sussex brand in the US, which the American Riviera Orchard brand is thought to be part of, it’s thought her ambitious plans have also led to her and Prince Harry being ‘downgraded’ on the Buckingham Palace website.
Previously the Duke and Duchess had more of a prominent presence, where instead of having separate profiles they now have a shorter joint biography and Bower remarked that this could be the first step before “taking their titles”. Bower added: “For Charles, that will be difficult. But, as the King and Kate recover from their illnesses and rebuild the institution, it is a necessary step – to protect the sanctity of Britain’s most precious brand, the Royal Family itself.”

Earlier this month Meghan debuted her new business on Instagram earlier this month, and it’s thought that the brand will also feature with a possible cookery show to link in with the Sussexes’ Netflix deal which is due to end in 2025. The Sussexes originally signed a $20 million deal with the streaming giant after leaving the royal family and whilst it is due to renew next year, contracts have not yet been confirmed.
