A woman is fighting for her life after being attacked near a Midlands hospital.
The woman is said to have suffered life-threatening injuries when she was assaulted by a driver whose vehicle had overturned nearby,
Police said the driver ran from the vehicle towards Leicester Royal Infirmary, where the woman was walking.
The driver was detained at the scene following the incident, which took place shortly after 5.30pm on Tuesday, June 24.
Leicestershire Police said: “Officers are carrying out further enquiries after a collision was reported just after 5.30pm on Tuesday, June 24.
“The collision involved one vehicle, which was found overturned.

“It’s believed the occupant left the vehicle and ran away towards Aylestone Road and the Leicester Royal Infirmary, where he assaulted a woman who was walking by at the time.
“He was subsequently detained at the scene.
“The victim has been taken to Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham and her injuries are believed to be life threatening.”
Police are now appealing for anyone with information to get in touch with officers.
The force added: “Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information which may assist is asked to get in touch.
“Also, if you were driving in the area and captured any dash cam footage of the incident please contact us.
“A small area of Aylestone Road remains closed, however traffic can get by.
“Anyone with any information is asked to contact 101 or report via www.leics.police.uk, quoting incident 512 of June 24.”
