Woman killed in Much Wenlock crash as man and two children injured

A woman has tragically died after a two-car crash in Shropshire. Two air ambulances were scrambled to the scene on Bridgnorth Road in Newton, Much Wenlock, following the collision.

Medics administered advanced life support to the woman at the roadside but sadly nothing could be done to save her. She was confirmed dead at the scene following the crash at 2.15pm yesterday afternoon (July 10).

A man and two boys – the driver and passengers of the second car – were also hurt in the crash but their injuries are believed to be minor. They were taken to Royal Shrewsbury University Hospital for assessment.

Three ambulances and two paramedic officers were dispatched to the area after the crash, alongside two Midlands Air Ambulances from Cosford and Strensham.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “Crews arrived to find two cars that had been involved in a collision and four patients in total. The driver of the first car had suffered serious injuries in the incident and she received advanced life support at the scene.

“Despite the best efforts of ambulance staff, it unfortunately became clear that nothing more could be done to save her and she was confirmed deceased. A man and two boys who were the driver of and passengers in the second car, were treated for injuries believed to be minor before being taken to Royal Shrewsbury University Hospital by land ambulances.”

A incident log from Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service added: “At 14:21 on Sunday, 10 July, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting that a road traffic collision had taken place in Much Wenlock. 2 fire appliances were mobilised from Telford and Wellington.

“An operations officer was in attendance. Reports of road traffic collision involving 2 saloon vehicles. Four casualties being treated by paramedics. Fire crews used small gear and first aid kits The stop message was received at 14:54.”
