A woman who died after being pulled from the River Derwent has been named as Lisa Welford and a man has been charged with her murder.
North Yorkshire Police alongside members of the public found Lisa in the river at 11.40pm on Wednesday, April 24. She was pulled from the water and CPR was performed before she was rushed to hospital, however, she died a short time after.
Now, the police have identified her as 49-year-old Lisa Welford, from Malton. A 47-year-old man, who was known to Lisa but has not been named by police at this stage, has been charged with murder. He is now due to appear before court on Monday, April 29.

Detective Chief Inspector Shaun Page said: “Our thoughts are with Lisa’s family and friends at this very sad time. We have charged a 47-year-old man with murder.
“We understand the disruption and distress it has caused locally and I want to thank the community for their patience and support as we continue to investigate this isolated incident. If you have any information that could assist our investigation then please contact us.”
