In 2006, Mauri Bhowmik, an agent for National Savings Certificates, was sent to 15-day judicial custody for having embezzled more than Rs 10 lakh from AD Nagar post office, but she managed to escape.In 2008, another employee Rakhi Sarkar was found to have stolen Rs 15 lakh. She was dismissed from service and is serving a jail term.
