Woman walker in 70s dies after Lake District fall

A woman in her 70s has died after a fall in the Lake District.

The woman was with her family at Surprise View, Borrowdale.

Police were called at around 6.15pm after reports that a woman had fallen.

The ambulance service, mountain rescue and an air ambulance also attended but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The woman was wearing an orange dress with a mustard orange cardigan and an orange bag.

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward as officers continue investigating to understand the circumstances of the incident.

Officers are appealing for anyone who was in the area around this time, who saw the woman and her family walking.

Police would especially like to make contact with an woman adult walker and a group of four other adult walkers who witnessed the incident and waited with the family for a period of time.
