‘WONDERFUL COMMUNITY’: Amersham’s finest celebrated at Citizen of the Year awards

Amersham’s finest residents were celebrated a special council awards ceremony last month.

Following on from the Amersham Town Council’s Annual Town Meeting at Amersham Free Church on March 27, town mayor councillor Elizabeth Shepherd presented the 2024 Amersham Town Council Citizen of the Year Awards.

Angela Loewi was named as Citizen of the Year for her “tireless work with people with eating disorders”.

Claiming the Business Award was Amersham MOT Centre for their ongoing engagement and support of the Town Council, Amersham in Bloom and projects within the wider community.

After leading exciting student projects such as creating the mural outside the Royal Mail Sorting Office, the Art & Design Department at Buckinghamshire College led by Jenna Payne was recognised with the Creative and Engagement Award.

BJ Tailor, who was described as a gentleman at the “forefront of the community… using his role at Tescos Superstore in Amersham to support so many good causes and charities”, won the Community Support Award.

Mayor’s Special Award was Sejal Sachdev for her dedicated efforts in supporting a vast number of community groups, in particular, her unwavering support of the elderly.

Sejal said: “Such a lovely evening. We are so lucky in our wonderful community. Am honoured to be considered let alone awarded the Mayor’s special award.”
