Wrexham seller lists rare Peter Rabbit 50p coin for 10,000

The coin, described as ‘extremely rare’ in the listing, was issued in 2017 and features the much-loved Tale of Peter Rabbit character.

It has been placed online with a Buy It Now price of £10,086.70 or best offer.

At the time of writing, people were actively viewing the listing, with two eBay users having already added it to their watchlist.

The seller, who is based in Wrexham, is offering free Royal Mail Special Delivery by 1pm and has stated that no returns are accepted.

The listing was last updated on December 8, 2025.

The 2017 Peter Rabbit 50p is part of the Royal Mint’s popular Beatrix Potter series, which has proved a hit with collectors since it was first introduced.

While millions of Peter Rabbit coins entered circulation, certain editions and condition grades can command higher prices among collectors.

The coin is listed under decimal coinage (c.1971-now) and is described as being sourced from England, with the country of origin stated as the United Kingdom.

Peter Rabbit coins remain among the most sought-after 50p designs in circulation, with collectors often scouring their spare change in the hope of finding one.

Whether this particular coin will achieve its five-figure asking price remains to be seen, but it is the latest example of a North Wales seller attempting to cash in on the enduring popularity of Beatrix Potter’s mischievous rabbit.

The full listing can be found on eBay under item number 375579877030.
