THE MP for Ynys Môn, Virginia Crosbie, has visited Anglesey’s sorting office to thank Royal Mail posties for their work during the COVID-19 pandemic and ahead of the busy Christmas period.
Mrs Crosbie was shown around the office in Llangefni by manager Ian Lumley, and got the chance to meet postmen and women just as mail volumes start to increase for the festive season.
She also heard about the work the team did to ensure parcels and the post were delivered on Anglesey during COVID lockdowns.
She said: “It was an honour to go to the delivery office and meet up with our much-valued island posties and thank them for their hard work over the last 20 months.
“I know the pandemic has given rise to many challenges with a big increase in parcels to be delivered and staffing and isolation issues too, but the Royal Mail on Anglesey has coped well.
“Now Christmas is upon us, I know they will step up again to get the presents and cards through doors across the island.”
Mr Lumley added: “We are proud to have played our part throughout the pandemic, keeping the community connected.
“There’s no doubt it has been challenging, but we remain very grateful to our customers for their support and for keeping us so busy!
“Now we will be working even harder to deliver Christmas parcels and cards, so it was a real boost to have a visit from Virginia to see the operation and to support the team.”
