York mum horrified after man exposes himself in front of her young daughter

Police are searching for a man who performed a sex act in front of a horrified mum and her young daughter.

It happened on the cycle path near to the Royal Mail sorting office on Leeman Road in York at 6.50pm yesterday (Sunday).

The woman reported it to police then posted a warning on a Facebook group.

She said the offender “was seen openly masturbating by my young daughter”.

The woman added: “He greeted my daughter and then apologised as she looked at him mortified, before making his way on foot hastily towards the city centre.”

Officers conducted a full search of the area but were unable to locate the suspect. He is thought to have headed towards the Principal Hotel and city centre.

The suspect is described as

• a white male
• between 50 and 60 years old
• about 5ft 11in-6ft tall
• with a white beard and white hair
• which was short in a comb-over style.

He was wearing black glasses, a jacket and dark jeans.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “We understand this is an extremely concerning incident and a full investigation is now underway.

“I would urge anyone who saw anything, has relevant CCTV footage, or can assist the investigation in any way, to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 and quote reference number 12240150188.”
