Post Office recognised for customer service

Later this month, the Bermuda Post Office (BPO) will be formally recognised by the Universal Postal Union (UPU) during a special award ceremony in Switzerland.

The Minister for the Cabinet Office, Wayne Furbert, explained that following a recent assessment, the BPO was deemed to have successfully achieved high standards in the areas of security and customer service.

Mr Furbert said: “We were pleased to receive correspondence recently that confirmed that based on the security certification conducted by the UPU’s International Bureau, the BPO will be awarded level A (Gold) certification, according to their accreditation methodology.

“With this recognition, the public can be assured that their mail is secure from the time it is received by BPO to the time it is delivered to them. Essentially, this award puts Bermuda on the map as being the first country in the Caribbean to have received this award and the second country globally to have received this award.

“This achievement stems from an international evaluation which took place from May 7 to 10, 2019. As the public is aware, the BPO has been examining our business models and seeking ways to develop and increase our efficiencies to realise new opportunities.

“Like every business the BPO must aim to consistently provide a high standard of service to both its internal and external customers. So we are delighted that the BPO’s hard work over the last year or so has been recognised in such a monumental way.

“I would like to congratulate Bermuda Post Office, the Acting Post Master General Susan Moore-Williams and the entire team on their success.”

The award ceremony is due to take place during the Postal Operations Council Plenary Session to be held 17 October 2019 in Berne, Switzerland.
