A house hunter on A Place in the Sun broke down in tears during tonight’s episode as she recalled the heartbreak of losing her mum.

Husband and wife Andy and Linda were on the hunt for a two to three-bedroom house in Western Cyprus, with a budget of £120,000.

The couple, who both work for the Royal Mail, were hoping to find their dream home so that they could retire there.

Linda also had a more sentimental reason for the move to Cyprus, as she explained it was a place that her late mum had always wanted to visit.

After viewing all five properties, Linda got rather emotional as she thought about her mum.

‘My mum always wanted to come out here with my dad and as well as doing it for myself, I am doing it for my mum as well,’ Linda sobbed.

‘I wish she was here still.’

During their search, Jonnie failed to wow the couple with the first home, but the second and third property really impressed Andy and Linda.

Both had beautiful views, a lot of outdoor space, and plenty of storage for Linda’s CD collection.

But, in the end, after putting in a ‘cheeky’ bid for the third house, Andy and Linda’s offer got accepted.

Praising the amount of space the house had Linda said: ‘It’s got three sofas and a big table and it still looks huge.

‘This is fabulous, get the whole family around in here.’

A Place in the Sun airs on Sundays at 7pm and weekdays at 3pm on Channel 4.
