Armed police swoop on Bristol shopping centre after ‘bladed weapon’ spotted

Armed police swooped on the Broadwalk Shopping Centre in south Bristol today (July 24) amid reports of a disorder involving a ‘bladed weapon’. Officers were called to the shopping centre in Knowle after several people were reportedly involved in the disorder at just before 1pm.

Two people were arrested at the scene. An Avon and Somerset Constabulary spokesperson said that armed officers were sent out because a ‘bladed weapon’ was spotted.

“Due to information received about the sighting of a bladed weapon, armed officers were deployed,” the spokesperson said.

“Two men have been arrested in connection with this incident. Enquiries are ongoing.”

An eyewitness contacted Bristol Live and said police were there at 1.15pm, and were gone within five minutes.
