In the run up to Christmas, businesses across Cornwall are hiring temporary staff to help with the busy festive season. From sorting post at Royal Mail to dressing up as Santa at Camel Creek theme park, there are plenty of opportunities up for grabs right now.
Supermarkets, high street stores, cafes and hotels are all looking to increase their workforce and, for some, there could even be a permanent role at the end of it. There are jobs available for people with all levels of experience and training will be provided for some of them.

Position: Seasonal Style Advisor
Description: There are two temporary eight hours per week contracts available to help support the store over the busy Christmas period. These contracts are expected to last until December 31, 2022. You’ll need to possess a real love of fashion, provide excellent confident customer service and be able to work well as part of a team.

Merchants Manor, Falmouth
Position: Front of House and Housekeeping
Description: This is a month job placement working 40- 50 hours per week (part time will be considered) over Christmas. They have positions for food servers, bar staff or housekeeping. There is also accommodation available on request and an opportunity for long term employment.
Pay: £10 an hour, plus a £400 bonus at the end of the month.

Position: Seasonal Mail Sorters
Description: On a daily basis you’ll unload mail and parcels from vans, move them through the centre and help sort letters. It’s an important, hands-on role, ensuring every parcel, letter and present reaches their final destination, safely.
Pay: Late shifts (Mon to Sat, 2pm to 10pm) – £12.99 an hour or night shifts (Mon to Sat, 10pm to 6am) – £14.49 an hour

Position: Night Replenishment, Supermarket Assistant
Description: The role of a supermarket assistant involves a range of tasks, including advising and serving customers, moving and replenishing stock, carrying out housekeeping activities and handling cash and card transactions according to set procedures. Partners may be expected to work in any area of the branch to support the wider team as required, and to maintain the necessary business dress and hygiene standards. Due to working time regulations, applicants must be 18 years or over to apply.

Position: Seasonal Sales Assistant
Description: Some of the duties within the role include, stock replenishment, ensuring all areas of the store remain tidy inviting customers to shop, meeting high standards of display and visual merchandising, making it easy for customers to shop, and maintaining “exceptional” customer service. The contracted hours are five hours and 45 minutes per week between November 26, 2022 and December, 30 2022.

Position: Production Assistant
Description: As a Production Assistant you’ll be responsible for, picking components to build a custom controller based on customer orders or pre-determined products, testing finished controllers, packaging up orders for dispatch, and assessing customer returns and filling out information for repairs. Full training will be provided, so no experience is necessary.

Description: In this role you will, serve customers mostly at the till point, ensure that the store is well stocked and a high level of store presentation is maintained, and will be actively be involved in achieving the store targets. Position: Sales Assistant
Description: You will be expected to be at the market for 8.30am when they will meet you there and drop off the stock and equipment you’ll need for the day. You will then need to set up the stall, serve customers and maintain stock levels for the day.
At 4pm you will then need to clean and pack down the stall and we will collect the remaining stock and equipment from you at 4.30pm. The position is available between November 23, 2022 and December 24, 2022.

Position: Server, barista, kitchen hand
Description: The successful applicant must be barista trained and capable of producing Italian coffees, able to take table orders for food and drinks, produce the drinks as required and follow a manual, handwritten system for food orders with a restaurant style of service. Other duties include some basic food preparation such as washing salad, general cleaning and dishwashing. It will be an immediate start until the end of December 2022.

Position: Father Christmas actor
Description: This role is only for those aged 18 or over and is for someone who wants to bring the “magic of Christmas to children and their families as Father Christmas”. Full training will be given from December 1 with dates and working hours being confirmed at the job interview.
