Royal Mail delays in the run-up to Christmas have eased but the company says it is still experiencing problems – and Coventry postcodes are among the areas affected.

The company explained that it operates an air, rail, and road network to move letters and parcels between its distribution hubs, mail processing centres, and delivery offices around the UK.

In terms of air, rail, and road, Royal Mail’s networks are operating to schedule over the last 24 hours.

However, the mail centres reported some issues.

Not all mail was processed or despatched on time over the past 24 hours in certain mail centres.

As a result, post in those areas may be delivered slightly later than expected, according to Royal Mail.

The mail centres affected are listed below.

South Midlands Mail Centre: Some mail posted in other parts of the UK on Friday, due for delivery today (Friday December 31) to addresses in the CV, LE, MK and NN postcode areas.

Chester Mail Centre: Some mail posted in other parts of the UK on Friday, due for delivery today to addresses in the CH, LL and SY postcode areas.

Birmingham Mail Centre: Some mail posted in other parts of the UK on Friday, due for delivery today to addresses in the B, HR and WR postcode areas.

Warrington Mail Centre: Some mail posted in other parts of the UK on Friday, due for delivery today to addresses in the CW, L, WA and WN postcode areas.

Croydon Mail Centre: Some mail posted in other parts of the UK on Friday, due for delivery today to addresses in the BR, CR, SE and SM postcode areas.

As for deliveries, Royal Mail said they are operating as normal across most of the country today, December 30.

However, there are delays in some areas.

This is due to Covid-related self-isolation, high levels of sick absence, resourcing, or other local factors.

Commenting on the affected postcodes, Royal Mail stated on its website: “We’re sorry for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.

“We will regularly update customers on the offices most impacted here.”
