Dad says Royal Mail driver’s abuse left his five-year-old son in tears

A dad says his five-year old son was left in tears after a Royal Mail driver launched a foul-mouthed rant at both of them.

Lee was out with his son on their electric scooters around Moorland Avenue in Lincoln at around 11am today, Saturday, February 22.

The pair went to cross at the island near Tritton Road and Lee says the Royal Mail van, which was not indicating to turn, started to approach the crossing.

This is when he claims the driver started screaming at both him and his son, using foul language and leaving his young son very upset.

Lee told Lincolnshire Live: “He [the driver] started beeping his horn.

“He shouted ‘Are you ******* trying to get yourself ******* killed? I suggest you look where you’re ******** going!’

“He wasn’t indicating – that was the issue. I drive myself and I’m very aware of the rules of the road.

Lee says the van then drove off “at speed”

“Even if I was in the wrong, it’s not on to speak like that in front of my child.

“He [Lee’s son] was crying afterwards – he was in floods of tears.”

Lee said he tried to reassure his son, telling him there was no need to cry and that he was there to protect him.

Lee added: “My son told me ‘I was scared daddy’.

“At the time he just stood there frozen.”

Lee took photos of the van before he claimed it “sped off” into the distance.

Royal Mail have been approached for comment on the incident.
