DEQ cites pollution at Portland’s Main Post Office site in the Pearl District

If boom times ever return, the Portland Development Commission envisions the 13-acre site that houses the Main Post Office at 715 N.W. Hoyt St. as prime turf for mixed-use housing and commercial development. But that won’t happen until pollution is cleaned up from the land’s earlier uses as a rail yard and manufactured gas plant, long before the post office’s distribution center was built in 1962.
