DPD UK have biggest Cyber Weekend ever

DPD UK has smashed their previous records this Cyber Weekend with 13% more parcel volume than last year’s event. All four automated sorting hubs were graced with masses of parcels through the nights leading up to and throughout the weekend.

With a large number of parcels came a record amount of delivery vans and DPD kept the momentum going by hiring a healthy number of permanent staff in preparation for the dynamic period. It can also be noted that their monumental electric vehicles were no stranger to the successful endeavour.

“It has been an incredible weekend. The whole team has been absolutely amazing. We have maintained our very high service standard, despite record volumes and that is something everyone should be very proud of. We start planning for Peak in January and we look at every single aspect of the whole process, but when it all comes together it is still a great achievement for everyone involved.

“Black Friday and Cyber Weekend are here to stay, and we fully accept that. We have had to adapt our plans significantly in recent years, but we work incredibly hard with our retail customers to ensure we can give them the same great service in November and December as we do over the rest of the year.”

– Dwain McDonald, CEO, DPD UK

DPD UK are a relatively small carrier in comparison to others such as Royal Mail, Hermes, Amazon Logistics and Yodel but are really pushing boundaries in the industry through being the most innovative as shown by the recently acquired awards for their sustainable delivery strategy.

The Green Apple Environment Award for environmental best practice was awarded just before the company also acquired a ‘Fleet Heroes’ award from the Energy Saving Trust, given to them for their powerful approach to zero-emission deliveries from the London based micro-depots alongside the nationwide EV rollout.
