Falkirk village mourns death of popular postman

David Park was a familiar figure in the villages of Avonbridge and Standburn over the last quarter of a century deliveriing the mail, come rain or shine, day-in-day-out all year round.

Unfortunately Mr Park, who lived in Standburn all his life, had been ill for some time and died on December 30, prompting an outpouring of sympathy for his family and tributes for his long service.

Villagers said they would miss the “courteous and helpful man”.

Iain Malloch, at Falkirk Delivery Office, said: “David was a kind, polite, positive and helpful colleague. He worked at Royal Mail for 35 years, serving the Avonbridge and Standburn area.

“He was a true professional in his duties with incredible local knowledge, and always with a smile. He will be sadly missed by all his colleagues at Falkirk Delivery Office. Our condolences go out to his family and friends.”
