Inside royal Christmas decorations as stunning tree is put up at Windsor Castle

New pictures have given a sneak peek into Windsor Castle’s incredible Christmas decorations.

Her Majesty’s home is getting ready for 25 December with a series of traditional Christmas trees and impressive decorations.

The Queen, 95, has been resting up at Windsor Castle following her recent stint in hospital.

Her recent health issues have resulted in her having to cancel several engagements, including Remembrance Day, after she sprained her back earlier in November.

The Queen has been staying at Windsor Castle for nearly two years now, having selected it as the home she would spend the Coronavirus lockdown at.

While the castle is impressive all year round, it definitely looks extra special at Christmas time.

New photographs have been shared which show the royal home undergoing a complete festive transformation.

A 20-foot-tall Christmas tree takes centre stage in St George’s Hall, which has been dressed in a selection of gold and red glass and mirrored ornaments.

Images from royal photographer Chris Jackson show a series of royal staff members adding the finishing touches to the incredible tree.

Chris wrote: ” It’s certainly beginning to look a lot like Christmas in St George’s Hall at Windsor Castle!

“Here @royalcollectiontrust staff make the final adjustments to the 20ft high tree that has been dressed with hundreds of iridescent glass and mirrored ornaments ahead of opening to the public today.”

The 20ft tree was taken from Windsor Great Park, with it being a royal tradition that Christmas trees are sourced from the park for Windsor Castle since the reign of Queen Victoria in the 1800s.

And it’s not just St George’s Hall which is given a tree.

The Crimson Drawing Room also boasts a stunning 15ft tree, which has been covered in a flurry of red baubles, twinkling fairy lights, and gold ornaments.

The room is generally used for private events held by the Queen, which will now be given a touch of festive cheer.

It is tradition that Windsor Castle is given a full Christmas makeover, which includes garlands being wrapped around the property’s grand staircase, and suits of armour which are on display given a festive spruce up.

The 15 metre high Garter Tower will be illuminated with images from St George’s Chapel, and snowmen which have been crafted by local schoolchildren will be added to the turret at the front of the castle.

Royal fans can also visit the Christmas decorations in-person, with visitors able to take a tour around the castle from now until 3 January 2022.
