Is there mail service on Christmas Eve in the UK?

The short answer is yes, mail services will be available on Christmas Eve 2021.

UK Royal Mail’s official website does not include Christmas Eve as one of its holidays.

The announcement states that Royal Mail will still deliver posts as normal on Christmas Eve, that is December 24, 2021. Hence, if you haven’t received a package from your loved ones yet, there’s still time.

However, please note that no collections and deliveries will happen on Christmas Day (December 25) and Boxing Day (December 26).

Monday, December 27, and Tuesday, December 28, have been announced as public holidays in the UK as Christmas and Boxing Day fall on Saturday and Sunday this year.

Hence, no mail services will be available on these two days either.

Is the postal service available in the US during the holidays?

In the US, the mail services shall remain open on Christmas Eve, but there is a postal holiday on Christmas Day.

While regular mail will not be delivered on Christmas Day, which is a Saturday, Priority Mail Express will still be functional.

All Post Office locations will resume regular delivery on Monday, December 27.

When will the mail services commence as usual?

In the UK, there will be no mail services on New Year’s Day, January 1, as it is a bank holiday.

However, normal postal/mail services will be available on Wednesday, December 29. They will go back to the usual schedule from Monday, January 4.

In the US, post offices nationwide will be open on New Year’s Eve (December 31) but will be closed on New Year’s Day (January 1) due to postal holiday.
