Kelly Mary Fauvrelle: Ex-partner accepts responsibility for killing

The ex-partner of a heavily pregnant woman who was stabbed to death in her own bedroom has accepted responsibility for her killing, a court has heard.

Twenty-five-year-old Aaron McKenzie has been charged with the murder of Kelly Mary Fauvrelle – who was eight months pregnant at the time of the attack – as well as possession of an offensive weapon.

He also stands accused of the manslaughter of her baby Riley, who had to be delivered at the scene via an emergency C-section, and died in hospital four days later.

During a brief hearing at the Old Bailey, the court heard that McKenzie had accepted responsibility for killing of 26-year-old Ms Fauvrelle and that psychiatric issues were being explored.

A plea hearing was set for October 2 with a provisional trial start date of December 2.

The defendant from Peckham in south London wore a black tracksuit in the dock and spoke only to confirm his age and British nationality.

Judge Nicholas Hilliard QC remanded him into custody.

Royal Mail worker Ms Fauvrelle was stabbed to death at her south London home on June 29.

Her whole family, including her mother, two brothers, sister and her sister’s baby son, were all in the house.

They were alerted by the sound of Ms Fauvrelle’s screams at about 3.30am.
