Latest Stoke-on-Trent forecast as UK hit with two weather warnings

Meteorologists have issued two weather warnings for the UK – as parts of the country are braced for windy and thundery conditions. But while the Potteries have dodged both yellow warnings forecasters are predicting some heavy rain as we move into the weekend.

A yellow warning for thunderstorms came in place at 6am today and will run until noon for parts of the South, South East and moving up into the Midlands. Elsewhere, there is a yellow warning for wind across the coast of Wales going from Anglesey down to the outskirts of Cardigan came in at midnight and will last until 6pm.

In North Staffordshire and winds will get up to around 33mph and there could be some heavy rain in the early hours of Saturday. It comes as the area has enjoyed some relatively warm conditions this week with temperatures getting into the 20s.

The Met Office says Stoke-on-Trent will see a high of around 21C – but a chance of some light rain before noon. It will remain dry through to 9pm when light rain is forecast.

However that is likely to turn heavy at 11pm and stay that way until 3am when it lightens up. Moving into Saturday and it’s set to be largely dry with highs of 21C. There’s a chance of some light rain at noon and 2pm.

Sunday could also see light rain but a high of 21C and like Saturday, some sunny spells. The Met Office reckons that we’re in for a dry week next week with between Monday and Thursday the city seeing temperatures getting up to 22C.
