Lindsay Lohan’s relationship with Saudi Crown Prince is ‘platonic’

Lindsay Lohan’s father insists his daughter’s relationship with the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, is ‘platonic and respectful’.

The 33-year-old actress had been linked to the Saudi royal following reports they were regularly texting and he was showering her with gifts including a credit card – claims the star had staunchly denied at the time.  

However, her dad Michael Lohan has clarified to Page Six that the pair are ‘just friends’ and are in touch because of her interest in helping refugees in the Middle East.

He told the outlet: ‘They are just friends, Lindsay has a lot of powerful friends in the Middle East, because she is huge out there.

‘Lindsay met MbS because of the work she has been doing in the Middle East. She is working to help people in the region, particularly refugees.

‘Nobody writes about the good work Lindsay does in Syria, they just want to hear the bad stuff. She has a platonic and respectful relationship with MbS, nothing more.’ 

Mohammad bin Salman has been in the headlines of late after Jamal Khashoggi, a Washington Post columnist and critic of the crown prince, was murdered on Oct 2 at its consulate in Istanbul. His dismembered body has never been found. 

A global outcry ensued and led to U.S. Treasury sanctions on 17 Saudi individuals and a Senate resolution blaming Prince Mohammed.

Saudi officials have denied suspicions in the CIA that the crown prince, known as MbS, ordered the killing. 

Eleven people are on trial in Saudi Arabia, although Callmard has voiced concerns over a potential miscarriage of justice. 

When quizzed about the accusations against Mohammad bin Salman, Michael insisted they weren’t true and his daughter felt ‘safe’ in his company.

Page Six had originally reported in August that The Masked Singer Australia judge was being ‘flown around in private jets and showered with presents’ by MbS.

A representative for Lindsay clarified at the time that the pair had only met once ‘around a year ago at a Formula One Grand Prix race’.   

Lindsay has previously dated Aaron Carter, Wilmer Valderrama, Samantha Ronson and Egor Tarabasov. 

She recently admitted she had been dating a non famous person for a short time, but they had broken up. 

Lindsay has long been popular in the Middle East and has found a spiritual second home for herself out there.

At the time, she revealed she has taken an interest in Islam and was studying the Quran after rumours swirled surrounding her new, unique dialect.

‘It’s a mixture of most of the languages I can understand or am trying to learn,’ she told the Daily Mail.

‘I’ve been learning different languages since I was a child. I’m fluent in English and French, can understand Russian, and am learning Turkish, Italian and Arabic.’
