List of postcodes where DPD has suspended deliveries in South West

DPD has suspended deliveries in nearly 50 postcodes around Bristol, Somerset and Wiltshire as Christmas approaches. Due to the inconvenience caused by Royal Mail’s industrial action on Sunday, December 11, the parcel company has announced delays in its next-day delivery service.

After a long-running disagreement about jobs, wages, and working conditions, members of the Communication Workers Union have started a series of walkouts. According to the union, this will result in a massive backlog of mail, with the next strike day December 23, and also on Christmas Eve, December 24.

Bristol, Somerset, and Wiltshire are all areas impacted in the South West.

According to the Liverpool Echo, this has resulted in a backlog effect on DPD, with a high demand for their delivery service due to many individuals purchasing Christmas gifts online. Only 5% of UK postcodes are affected by the inconvenience, according to DPD.

A statement from DPD said: “We are still delivering parcels the next-day to the vast majority of UK postcodes and will continue to do so in the run-up to Christmas.

“However, we are experiencing some short delays to our next-day delivery service in a small number of locations. This is as a result of the industrial action at the Royal Mail, which has had a huge knock-on effect across the entire industry. In the specific impacted postcode areas, this can mean a 24 to 48 hour delay.

“While the underlying issues here are outside of our control, we understand that any delays at this time of year are regrettable and our team is doing everything possible to minimise the impact on next-day deliveries.”
