Man accused of attempted murder after stabbing appears in court

A young man charged with attempting to murder of a woman in Enderby Road, Blaby, has appeared in court. Kane Brookes, 24, of Feilding Way, Lutterworth, has also been charged with the unlawful wounding of a man with intent to cause him grievous bodily harm.

The charges relate to an alleged knife attack in a house in Enderby Road, which led to Leicestershire Police being called at 12.53am on Wednesday, March 15. The woman, who is in her 20s, suffered serious stab injuries, police said. The injured man, aged 18, was also taken to hospital for treatment following the incident.

Brookes has been in custody since his arrest and he appeared at Leicester Crown Court on Monday. During a short hearing, a trial date of Monday, September 11, was set.

No pleas were entered and a plea and trial preparation hearing was set for June 16. Brookes was remanded back into custody.
