A man has died in a Stoke-on-Trent house after police were called out in the early hours. Officers attended Cope’s Avenue at around 2.30am today (June 21) following “a report of a man with a large bladed weapon”.
When they arrived they discovered a man in his 20s was “unresponsive” and despite the best efforts of emergency services, he was declared dead shortly after. Staffordshire Police say they “do not believe anyone else was involved”.
In a statement, the force said: “We were called to a report of a man with a large bladed weapon on Copes Avenue in Tunstall at around 2:30am this morning (21 June). Once officers had managed to gain access to the property, they had discovered a man in his 20s who was unresponsive.
“Officers attempted CPR with the support of colleagues from West Midlands Ambulance Service, but despite their best efforts, the man was declared dead a short while later. We do not believe anyone else was involved at this time, but officers are reviewing the circumstances leading up to the man’s death and would encourage anyone with information to contact us through the LiveChat function on our website quoting incident number 85 of 21 June.”
