Man taken to hospital with ‘potentially serious injuries’ after being hit by car in Stoke-on-Trent

A man has been taken to hospital with ‘potentially serious injuries’ after being hit by a car on a Stoke-on-Trent road.

An ambulance noticed the collision on the A53, Leek Road, in Stockton Brook, shortly before 9.30am today (March 22).

The road was closed while paramedics worked at the scene.

They have now confirmed one man – who has not been identified – was taken to hospital.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “One of our ambulances came across a collision between a car and a pedestrian at 9.28am on Leek Road, near to the Royal Mail Stockton Brook delivery office, no other resources were required at the scene.

“We treated a man, who was the pedestrian. He was treated for potentially serious injuries before being taken to the Royal Stoke University Hospital for further assessment.”

A Staffordshire Police spokesman added: “Officers were called to reports of a road traffic collision involving a car and a pedestrian on Leek Road, Stockton Brook at 9.30am this morning. A man was taken to hospital by colleagues at the ambulance service.”
