And they should remain in isolation at home until they receive their results.

But bosses at Castle Douglas Post Office have had to remind people of this in a bid to keep their punters safe.

Colin Wilson wrote on Facebook: “May I politely remind customers that anyone who is required to take a home Covid test should UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES, BRING IT TO THE POST OFFICE.

“Any tests should be posted in the PRIORITY POSTBOX which is on the wall outside the Royal Mail Enquiry Office in Castle Douglas.

“This is to ensure that no potential traces of virus come into the shop. If you need to take a test because of symptoms or a contact with an infected person YOU SHOULD BE ISOLATING AND CERTAINLY NOT COMING IN THE SHOP – even if you have have no symptoms you can be carrying the virus.

“So please, please be responsible.”

It comes as another 60 Scots have lost their lives to coronavirus as Scotland prepares to enter its sixth week of national lockdown.

Today’s figures from the Scottish Government also revealed a further 994 positive Covid tests were recorded overnight, taking Scotland’s case total to 178,682.

And the country’s coronavirus death toll since the pandemic started in March now stands at 6,100 after passing the 6,100 milestone yesterday.

But hospital and ICU figures have both fallen overnight.

Today, 1,952 patients remain in hospital battling the deadly bug including 142 fighting for life in hospital – two and six fewer than yesterday.

And 543,370 Scots have now received their first dose of the Covid vaccination.

Of those, 7,638 have received their second dose.

And Covid expert Devi Sridhar has said that Scots schools should be reopened again despite the current Covid lockdown.

The virus adviser to Nicola Sturgeon said the harms of keeping kids out of classrooms is being “underestimated”.
