Facebook friend Andy Pem posted Mark, 53, a recipe but wrote online that he did so not knowing where he lived.

He scribbled facts about Mark on the envelope to try to help posties including “Likes 4×4 Pajeros, curly haired lad. Some top hotel chef”.

Mark, of Settle, North Yorks, was contacted on Facebook by a postal manager who recognised his name but he refused to give her his address to test Royal Mail further.

He was amazed when the recipe arrived — four days after it was posted.

Andy said: “I can’t believe it found him. Well done Royal Mail.”
