Research giant Kantar picks ex-Heineken executive Nasard as new CEO | Business News

A former Heineken executive has been picked as the next boss of Kantar, the market research giant that changed hands in a $4bn deal last year.

Sky News has learnt that Alexis Nasard is to be named as Kantar’s chief executive, with an announcement expected in the coming days.

The decision will be the most significant taken by Bain Capital, the US-based private equity firm, since it bought a controlling stake in the company from WPP Group.

Mr Nasard has been chief executive of Bata, the world’s biggest shoemaker by volume, since 2016.

A former global marketing director of Heineken, he has also worked for companies including Procter & Gamble.

He will replace Eric Salama, who was chief executive of Kantar under WPP’s ownership but who abruptly left the company in February.

The search for his successor has been led by Adam Crozier, the former ITV and Royal Mail boss, who was installed by Bain Capital as Kantar’s chairman.

The sale of a majority stake in Kantar, which produces closely watched data on grocery retailers’ market share, formed part of a strategy by Mark Read, WPP chief executive, to reduce the company’s debt.

Bain and Kantar declined to comment.
