Royal Mail apologises for delays after Netherfield homes without deliveries for weeks

Some households in Netherfield have not received any mail or parcels for three weeks, which has led to Royal Mail to issue an apology for the delays.

Among those who have not received mail is Lance Morgan, 63, who’s retired and lives in a shared house on Chandos Street in Netherfield.

He says he had not received any post from December 23 through to Wednesday (January 12) morning, and said his two other housemates have still not received anything at all since before Christmas.

Mr Morgan is still waiting for some post to be delivered by Royal Mail.

Speaking to Nottinghamshire Live, he said: “I was puzzled and not sure what was going on, as I went away over Christmas, came back and there was nothing at all.

“I’ve been expecting two parcels, one arrived on Wednesday but another has not, they’re both plastic model kits.

“There hasn’t been any post I’ve seen for my housemates either, as it usually falls on the mat in the hall, and I bring anything up for them.

“I haven’t been told anything, and I’m not criticising them at all, I don’t want to cause any aggravation, they do a hard enough job as it is.”

Royal Mail has confirmed there have been delays in the local area, and have apologised.

A Royal Mail spokesperson said: “The vast majority of mail is delivered safely and on time.

“We aim to deliver to all addresses we have mail for, six days a week.

“In the local area, we are experiencing some delays to service due to high levels of sickness absence, Covid related self-isolation and resourcing issues.

“We apologise to any customers who may have experienced delays to their mail.

“We have been working hard to get our levels of service back to normal as soon as possible and the situation is improving.

“Anyone who has concerns over the delivery of their mail should contact the Royal Mail customer service team on 03457 740 740 or via the Royal Mail website.”
