Royal Mail has fired a postman who left a 72-year-old woman lying in the snow after her front door collapsed.

Royal Mail has fired postie Thomas McCafferty after he abandoned pensioner Patricia Stewart in the snow after she fell from her doorstep in Falkirk, Scotland.

Royal Mail has fired a postman who left a 72-year-old pensioner lying on the floor in the snow.

After Patricia Stewart fell from her doorstep in Falkirk, Scotland, in February of this year, Thomas McCafferty ignored her cries for help.

Patricia, who has osteoporosis and uses a zimmer frame, was left in the freezing cold at her Bainsford home after the incident.

A neighbor’s video doorbell captured footage of Patricia asking McCafferty for assistance, according to the Daily Record.

“I can’t help you pal, I’m knackered,” McCafferty says to the pensioner in the video.

“I’m completely knackered.”

He then continued on his way without informing anyone else about the woman’s plight.

Patricia had already suffered a concussion from the fall and had been on the floor for 20 minutes before a Hermes delivery driver requested assistance from a neighbor to help him get into the house before calling an ambulance.

“The postman was walking away so he didn’t see the fall,” Patricia told the Daily Record in February, “but I shouted for help and asked if he could help me get up, but he just said he was knackered and walked off, leaving me there lying in the snow.”

“I was lying there for a little while, completely drenched and freezing.”

Patricia never received an apology from McCafferty, but she did receive one from a Royal Mail manager, according to reports.

“When I got told about the situation, I thought there must be something wrong here, there must be a misunderstanding,” Patricia’s niece Sheryl Harkins said at the time of the incident.

“It wasn’t until I saw and heard the video footage sent to me by a neighbor that I realized – it’s unbelievable.”

“I’m sick to my stomach.”

McCafferty was suspended while the incident was investigated by Royal Mail, but the postie has now been fired.

“We can confirm that the individual in question has left the business,” a Royal Mail spokesman said.

We regret the inconvenience this incident has caused.”
