During the summer, postboxes at Fraser Avenue and Capelrig Road, were covered in black bin bags and removed from service.

A statement that was placed on each of the postboxes which stated, “Out of service: Automated system, coming soon.”

The new upgraded solar-powered postboxes will allow local residents to send and return labelled parcels, provided the size is similar to that of a shoebox, for the first time.

“As such, it is vital that easily accessible postboxes continue to be present on street corners, residential areas and local walking routes.

“I am very pleased to see that the new digital postboxes have been installed at Fraser Avenue and Capelrig Road.”
