Royal Mail last Christmas posting dates updated as strike action continues

Royal Mail has made some changes to its last suggested posting dates before Christmas to ensure gifts and cards are received on time.

Urging customers to post their mail earlier this Christmas season as strikes by workers continue, Royal Mail has brought forward its suggested second-class posting dates from December 19 to December 12 and first-class post from December 21 to December 16.

It has changed its recommended posting dates after members of the Communication Workers Union (CWU) plan strike action throughout the month, including December 9, 11, 14, 15, 23 and 24.

This leaves only ten days left for customers to post their goods to ensure delivery before the big day. The changes have been made to help the company deal with the high volume of mail around the Christmas season.

Nick Landon, chief commercial officer, Royal Mail said: “The CWU is striking at our busiest time, holding Christmas to ransom for our customers, businesses and families across the country.

“We apologise to our customers for any disruption and delay that the CWU strike action is causing. We ask our customers to post early for Christmas to help us deliver Christmas.”

The full list of recommended posting dates can be found on the Royal Mail website, including any changes and updates.
