Royal Mail postman can barely walk after ‘accidentally eating four hash brownies’

Royal Mail has launched a probe after a postman who reportedly managed to ‘accidentally eat hash brownies’ was filmed staggering around in the street.

Footage shared on social media showed the man barely able to stand up as he walked along a road in Clapham, London, the Daily Star reports.

The laced brownies were allegedly stored by staff after they tried to deliver them to an empty home and there was no return address on the parcel, according to posts on Instagram.

It is not clear how the postman came into contact with the treats, which were kept inside a box labeled ‘Edibles by Pablochocobar’.

Another man had to come and collect him from his delivery route as he was unable to move his cart, but when he got back to the office he was filmed sitting in a chair saying ‘I’m not right.’

A colleague is heard remarking that the poor postie had munched his way through two of the brownies, before the chap admits he actually had four.

Text accompanying the Instagram Stories clip — which was later uploaded to TikTok by a different user — explains why the brownies had been eaten: “We had a delivery of them with no return address and the house was empty and they were in our office for a month so we opened them and they got given out.

“They were eaten between 5.30-7.30am.”

The viral video has received over 22,000 likes on the app as Londoners found it hilarious that their postman had ended up in such a state.

One user said: “Crying because this is my postman.”

Another added: “What? What kind of accident is this? Who gave them the brownies? Surely they didn’t just eat anything they found lying around?”

A third said: “How do you accidentally eat hash brownies? Sounds like the best day of work ever.”

A fourth wrote: “I feel for him but I can’t stop laughing and comments ain’t helping.”

Royal Mail has confirmed that they are aware of the incident and have launched an investigation.

A spokesperson told the Daily Star: “Royal Mail expects the highest standards of behavior from our people at all times. We are taking this matter very seriously.

“We have commenced an investigation which will determine whether any further action, including disciplinary action, might be taken.

“We are also reminding all staff at the delivery office of the correct procedures for dealing with items with no address for delivery or return.”

The delivery service added that they are unaware of any health and wellbeing issues following the incident.
