Royal Mail worker admits stealing people’s post

A Royal Mail worker of 17 years has admitted stealing people’s post.

Mark Foster,of Park Street, St Helens, stole high value items like phones and watches and sold the products on eBay afterward.

The 39-year-old, pleaded guilty to stealing postal packets between November 1, 2018, and August 20, 2019, in Newton-Le-Willows.

He brazenly stole 17 postal packets containing items worth up to £7,038.36.

As well as this, he transferred 15 postal packets, with a value of £4,514.83.

Foster, who appeared in Liverpool Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, dressed in a navy blue jumper and shirt, pleaded guilty to theft of a mail bag/postal packet and concealing or transferring criminal property.

Andrea Fitzgerald, prosecuting, said Foster had been working for Royal Mail for 17 years when he committed the crimes.

Foster is of previous good character, David Achilles, defending, said and he made “full and frank admissions” about his crimes as soon as he was arrested.

District Judge Andrew Shaw committed Foster to Liverpool Crown Court for sentencing because of how serious his crimes were.

He is expected to be sentenced on March 12.

Covering his face as he left the court with his hood, Foster was given unconditional bail until that date.
