Royal Mile in Edinburgh on lockdown as police seal off high street

The Royal Mile in Edinburgh has been locked down by police.

Officers have cordoned off an area outside the World’s End Pub on the famous high street with the street sealed off.

Social media users online reported seeing pools of blood on the floor outside the bar this evening.

There are also social media reports of someone falling out a window but Police have not confirmed what happened.

@wanderingandrew said: “What’s going on over on the royal mile? I was at Worlds End and heard from a guy that he saw a pool of blood on the ground”.

The incident is likely to disrupt traffic for The Proclaimers gig at Edinburgh Castle tonight.

Lothian Buses have diverted some services away from the scene.

They posted: “Due to a road closure buses are unable to serve the Royal Mile area and are instead diverted via Regent Road, Waterloo Place and North Bridge in both directions until further notice.”

Police Scotland have confirmed they are in attendance.
