Royal snub: Harry told Queen and Prince Charles by email that he ‘wanted’ out of the firm | Royal | News

A report in the Daily Mail claims the Sussexes decided to announce their departure by an email to senior royal members. The paper claims this lead the Queen and Charles to intervene, asking the Duke not to rush into any decision on his future.

A source told the Mail: “They understood that he and Meghan wanted something different and were willing to help but it was complicated.

“There were issues like security and funding, visas and tax, which neither of them had thought through. Harry was told to put his request in writing and come up with some ideas.

“He thought his family were stonewalling and decided to push the nuclear button.”

Harry on return to the UK after an extended Christmas holiday in Canada requested a meet with his senior aides at Frogmore Cottage.

Allegedly they pleaded with him not to announce the news to the public, as they feared the backlash.

“They didn’t even have clue what the term financially independent meant,” said another insider.

“Unfortunately he was just too stubborn, blinkered and bitter to see sense.

“He believed he was being forced to play second fiddle to William when it was he and Meghan who had the star power.

A source revealed to the Mail at the time: “They have bombed their way to the table but there’s still a desire to find a solution. The Queen knows she has to sort it.”

Users took to Twitter to share their opinion on the latest Megxit revelations.

One said: “Shocking to read a step by step breakdown of all the mistakes Harry and Meg made.”

Another replied: “Canadians have been markled, cos they wouldn’t stump up for security, who will pay this security bill in America?”

A third commented: “Somehow I find it hard to imagine the Queen and Charles reading emails – which makes it so much worse because a courtier would have had to break it to the Queen.”

It comes as Kate Middleton is rumoured to have broken down over losing her brother-in-law Prince Harry to Canada during an emotional farewell at the Sussexes’s departure.

Kate and Harry have been in each other’s lives since 2003, and Harry has previously described her as “the big sister he never had.”

After Meghan Markle and Harry got married in May 2018, the Sussex and Cambridge couples became known as “the Fab Four”.
